Family Support

The services of Community Ventures in Living, Ltd., are founded on the belief that every individual has the right to live as a valued and accepted member of the community. Recognizing that from time to time every individual needs support, FIS provides assistance to families and individuals that have disabilities. We strive to assist people to live as independently as is appropriate and to create an environment where dignity, a positive social role and integration into the community, self-direction, and a feeling of self-worth are enhanced through supporting individual strengths, relationships, and the acquisition of life skills.

Provides temporary substitution for and time-limited relief of primary caregivers or family of a person who is developmentally disabled by capable, competent personnel. Such as:
- Playing games at homes while the family is away
- A special activity, such as a movie or trip to a park.
- Various activities as indicated by the needs of the individual

Includes teaching specific living skills such as:
- Managing money
- Learning the bus route
- Finding enjoyable leisure activities
- Finding a place to live
- Doing laundry
- Developing social skills
- Managing time
- Caring for the home
- SHopping for food and cooking

We also provide:
- Individual Education Plan meetings
- Person Centered Planning
- Help with management of budgets
- Service coordination
- Transitional planning
